If you are to miscarry, it will happen within 3 days of the procedure. But in some cases, it can occur up to 2 weeks later. There is also a very low risk of maternal infection (1 in 1000); therefore, it is recommended to record your temperature for the next two days. The amniotic fluid contains fetal cells, which contain genetic information.
