Childbirth is not an unpredictable process. It’s a relationship of trust, which is built gradually and gives the pregnant woman the feeling of security and safety that she so desperately needs at that time. It’s care, constant concern, and deep knowledge throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, and the presence of our midwife, Lamprini Pallikara, is crucial in this. Proper preparation of the perineum during labor and correct medical management on my part during the baby’s exit, with exclusive obstetric monitoring that ensures this calm environment, helps the woman focus and actively participate in the birthing process. It’s mainly this last thing: calmness, discretion, familiarity, the medical care every woman deserves, and… trust. Labor is a story of hope and respect…

Comprehensive obstetric care during the perinatal period

Every woman deserves respect. You have to explain how her body works. What she has to expect of her pregnancy and how to be prepared for maternity. We take care of that, in addition to thorough ultrasound examinations or medical procedures that will ensure her health and the newborn’s. Every woman deserves respect. You have to explain how her body works. What she has to expect of her pregnancy and how to be prepared for maternity. We take care of that, in addition to thorough ultrasound examinations or medical procedures that will ensure her health and the newborn’s. Birth is a central event that women will remember and be affected by throughout their lives. A birthing woman needs both high-quality care that minimizes risks of complications and a familiar, calm, safe, and secure environment so her hormonal system can function optimally and facilitate a physiological and healthy labor and birth.

This special preparation is part of our work and our lives. And beside the operating room and the clinic, it’s also happening in the space where our midwife, Lambrini Pallikara, and her team -midwives Myrto Poliporti and Anastasia Haritou- have set up a space that offers complete obstetric and emotional support to families during the perinatal period. This space, where every family can access pregnancy monitoring, parenting preparation groups, postpartum groups, preparation of the pregnant woman’s body with exercise and relaxation, infant massage, home visits during the postpartum period, and many other services, prepares new mothers for a humanized, calm, “at-home” birth that has absolutely nothing to do with what we have known until now as a simple delivery process.
